What makes supports hard

  • 🧣Flowing capes with thin, sweeping geometry
  • 🗡️Thin details like knives or antennae that force long support trees
  • 🔄Details that wrap the mesh, making supports hard to remove without marks
  • 👗Floating cloth — thinner than the body mesh, fragile when removing supports

This doesn't mean we reject all these — context matters. But models heavy on these traits tend to frustrate FDM users.

Common questions

Do I need to have supportless models to join?+
Not at all. We welcome creators with supportless, easy-to-support, or a mix of both. If your models are thoughtfully designed for FDM printers, there's a place for them on FDMFoundry.
What if I only have free models right now?+
That's completely fine. Many great creators start with free models. You can list free models on the platform and add paid ones whenever you're ready.
How long does the 5% rate last?+
Founding creators who sign up during this pre-launch period get the 5% platform fee for a full year from the day the marketplace launches. After that, it goes to the standard 10%.
Can I sell models that need some supports?+
Yes — as long as the supports are easy to remove. Think: a few small tree branches that snap off cleanly. We want to avoid models where supports are a major pain point for FDM users.
